Books are in the studio!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Nov 09, 2021 at 03:44:08 AM

Hey Backers!

Guess what! We finally have the books in the studio! Our incredible printers, Hemlock, delivered them and even helped little ol' me carry the boxes in to the studio. What service!

Don't believe me?? Here's the proof:

They look super fantastic! I'm so thrilled with how they've turned out.  We have all the additional rewards lined up and have made plans to do fulfillment on Wednesday.  I will update you all once they're all officially in the mail!

Thanks for your patience and support!

Book is at the printers, here's the PROOF!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Oct 19, 2021 at 04:21:00 AM

Hey Backers!

Bad news: It's Monday.

Good news: Our printers sent us the proof for Labyrinths!

The lovely folks over at Hemlock have done us a huge kindness by expediting the printing process, they were able to deliver us the proof late Friday afternoon.

In case you don't know, a proof is a single copy of the book that the printers make for us in order for us to see it in person as an object before they start production on the final order. This way we can see exactly how the art fits on the pages and allows us to catch any last minute mistakes before they're set in stone.  It's a good thing because we noticed that some of the text in the artist bios in the last pages are really close to the margins, too close for our comfort. We're going to be making the adjustments to the file and then approving the proof. Once that's wrapped up I should be able to give you all a more accurate ETA for the fulfillment of this project.

Check out how gorgeous Elaine M Will's story has turned out!
Hey, what's that in the background, a new book???

Thank you so much for your patience, I'm doing my best to keep this project moving. I'll update you as soon as we have a projected fulfillment date.

Best,

Labyrinths is at the printers!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Oct 10, 2021 at 10:33:35 PM

Hello Backers,

I'm thrilled to be writing you to say that Labyrinths is officially at the printers! We submitted our files a few days ago and expect to be paying the deposit this coming week! Due to delays with a lot of the printers we normally use, we have opted to have it printed locally (Vancouver, BC) by Hemlock. Hemlock is an incredible print house and we're so excited to be working with them on this project. It also means we wont have to wait for freight shipping once the book is finished.  In fact, I'll probably be picking the boxes up myself!

Just want to thank you all again for your patience with this project. Every time we do a Kickstarter we learn more about what we should and shouldn't do. This one was definitely a learning experience and I'm relieved you've all been so kind and have stuck with us during these delays.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

Oh my gosh, the book is finished!?!
over 2 years ago – Sat, Sep 25, 2021 at 08:50:44 AM

Hello Backers!

I have some exciting news!

Last night our executive director/book design wizard, Jeff Ellis, exported the ebook and print version of the book! That's right, it's finally done! Since we're fulfilling this project through Backerkit, I'm currently uploading the ebook file to their website right now.  As soon as it's done I'm going to hit send on all the digital rewards. Keep an eye out in your inbox for your digital rewards, they should be arriving today!

As for the physical book, I have been made aware from the various print houses we work with that we could be experiencing delays for the printed version. Due to COVID, there have been significant paper shortages in Canada, and the printers that have paper are really busy.  I'm going to ask around today to try and find the fastest way we can get this book made, I'm hoping it will be in the hands of a printer by early next week.  I will update you all as soon as I know about that.

I want to thank you all so much for your patience with this project.  In past anthologies I've been this heavily involved with(The Witching Hours), we've launched the kickstarter when the book has been at about 75% complete and have been able to wrap up quick enough to make our fulfillment time. Now I'm realizing that was perhaps a bit of a fluke and there are a lot of things can happen to delay things that I wasn't anticipating.  It's definitely taken longer than I was hoping but through this process I've learned an awful lot about how to prevent these delays in the future.  I think the wait is definitely worth it though.

See you at the next update!
